Lab-grown gemstones are created in carefully controlled laboratory environments using advanced processes that replicate many of the conditions in which gemstones form naturally. Rather than being mined from the earth, their growth takes place within a laboratory. Once created, they are cut and polished in much the same way as naturally formed gemstones, resulting in beautiful stones suitable for fine jewellery.
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds? The answer is yes they are. Lab-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical composition, crystal structure and optical properties as natural diamonds. The key difference is their origin. Natural diamonds form deep within the earth over an immense period of time, whereas lab-grown diamonds are created under controlled conditions using specialist technology.
